      Making “Scents” of Things

When we engage the spirit through our olfactory senses, we create a memory that will be called up in recognition each time we inhale again. The power of a particular scent can be healing and uplifting, and has long been regarded as a metaphysical “tool.” Flowers top the list of favorite scents, with cooking aromas and herbs right behind. I am going to be discussing these three aspects of scents in the coming months.

FLOWERS

Every type of flower has a meaning. Choosing the right flowers in an arrangement can create the right energy for any personal intention. Roses, for instance, enhance awareness through the feminine and inspire love and romance. Gardenia reflects purity and secret love, while iris promises faith, home and wisdom. Jasmine promotes joy and assists in the realization of dreams, while bamboo creates the vibration of good luck.

Look up the meanings of flowers before you make your purchase and you will be creating an environment customized to your personal energy that can only bring positive results. To help you get started, here are two different sites that mix various flower meanings. http://www.affectionately-yours.com/floral.html has some quirkier listings, while http://www.clareflorist.co.uk/meanings.asp offers a more traditional list.

Blessings of God,
Major
