EXPRESSING GRATITUDE"Please" and "thank you" are wonderful words. They express a feeling of gratitude for whatever helpful service has come or will come your way. In fact, they are not merely words, but can also be expressions and actions, too. They can come in the form of a wave, a smile or perhaps a nod; and they are always welcomed, and vitally important in creating a positive situation for you. But from what I have seen in today's society, simple manners and politeness appear to be a thing of the past. The worst offenders are drivers and shoppers. During this Holiday Season you might want to engage these forgotten skills. If you already do, then you are ahead of everyone else and a gracious spirit. But for those of you who may need a little help, here are some things to remember: When someone waves you along and lets you cut in front of them on the road, instead of cutting in and ignoring them for their kindness, it would be nice if you waved a simple thank you. Or the next time someone holds the door open for you in a department store, don't assume he/she is the doorman when they are really just another shopper showing you kindness. Thank them, and then turn around and hold the door for someone else. There are hundreds of little ways we can improve the quality of our associations, if only we seek to be more polite and grateful to others. Remember, you get back what you put out and if you are rude and negative, then that is what you will receive. We all have choices; it's easy to make the right one when you are doing so with love and politeness. A little respect goes a long way. Blessings of God,Major majorsmessage@aol.com ![]()
